RootEd in Durham Public Schools

RootEd in DPS is in constant communication and partnership with Durham Public Schools. RootEd in DPS is supported by members of the DPS School Board, DPS Superintendent Dr. Anthony Lewis, and other senior DPS staff. Partnerships with individual schools are done on a school-by-school basis and are voluntary on the schools’ part. No partnerships with RootEd in DPS are forced on any school.

We are proud to recognize Kelcie Baye for being RootEd in Durham Public Schools. Kelcie’s journey with DPS spans decades—first as a student at Hope Valley, Carrington, and Riverside, and later as an Exceptional Children’s educator and Adapted Curriculum Specialist.
Today, Kelcie continues to support public education through the private sector. As owners of Bouncin’ Baye Inflatables, Kelcie and her family have joined the “RootEd in DPS” partnership program.
Their commitment to the community includes:
– Offering discounted services.
– Supporting the upcoming celebration at Parkwood Elementary.
– Pledging an annual “Bounce Back Giveaway” (inflatables, games, and concessions) to a DPS school.
It is wonderful to see former students and staff investing back into the next generation. Thank you, Kelcie, for your continued dedication to Durham!

The Take10 program was created by an educator for educators. We understand the public school systems compensation plans and help you maximize your working years for the future. Our goal is to help you plan for a successful retirement while also sharing some ways to easily plug into accessible benefits you might not be aware of. We reject the notion that you can’t retire comfortably on a teacher’s salary. Take10 has helped teachers successfully transition from the classroom to retirement. Take control of your financial future with Take10. “Building Powerful Learning Communities by Creating Powerful Learning Experiences and Communications.”
https://www.constructivelearningdesign.org/
RootEd is a learning experience under the Constructive Learning Design portfolio.

RootEd was founded on the belief that the best way to prepare students and communities for tomorrow, is to engage them in solving the challenges of today, right in their backyard. RootEd is a community of educators, students, coaches, and partners working together to solve local and regional challenges. We know that bold, authentic learning experiences have the power to transform and strengthen students, teachers, schools, and communities. We also know that making these experiences attainable and sustainable for all North Carolina students and communities, requires a strong network of support. That’s RootEd.

Upstream Works Collaborative provides creative, accessible service solutions to help changemakers navigate complex challenges. We support grassroots leaders, community initiatives, and early-stage nonprofits by offering the critical infrastructure they need to focus on their mission and create lasting impact.

As a public charity that is tax-exempt under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3), Southern Conservation Partners can legally and properly conduct a program of support to individuals and nonexempt organizations. SCP assists projects led by others that are deemed by SCP to be in accord with and supportive of its own mission to save, honor, and enhance the natural heritage of the southern United States.
